Content Policy
This policy describes what we allow and remove on Society Speaks, including in discussions and in widgets embedded on partner sites. It is intended for publishers and participants.
What We Allow
- Statements and votes that represent genuine views on the topic, including strong disagreement
- Debate and criticism of ideas, without targeting individuals
- Factual claims and opinions, clearly presented
What We Remove
We will remove or reject content that:
- Spam or advertising — promotional content unrelated to the discussion
- Harassment or abuse — threats, doxxing, or targeted attacks on individuals
- Misinformation — demonstrably false claims presented as fact where the intent is to mislead
- Off-topic or irrelevant — content that does not address the discussion prompt
- Illegal content — material that violates applicable law
How We Enforce
- Participants can report statements via the "Report" button in the embed or on the full site.
- We review reported content and take action (remove, warn, or dismiss) within a best-effort window (typically 24–48 hours for serious reports).
- Repeated violations may result in votes or contributions being disregarded or blocked.
Embed-Specific
The embed is vote-only: readers can vote on statements and report; they cannot submit new statements from the embed. Seed statements are generated by our system (or provided by partners via the API). This keeps the moderation surface manageable for publishers.
For data we collect in the embed context (e.g. session fingerprint, partner ref), see our Privacy Policy, section 1.3.
