News needs to adapt to the modern era. I think we will see the rise of citizen journalism. We also need to get out of our own echo chambers and “traditional news” has not helped here and has exacerbated the problem

There's been no signalling from traditional news that they can adapt - they are taking the easy option of sensationalism and creating stories often based on lies or low-quality research. The audience will continue to migrate away
