Test your proposals with readers before you publish.

Send one question to your newsletter readers alongside a draft. They answer a dozen short statements, one for each proposal and its trade-offs. You see which will land, which will not and which need explaining.

Free for 14 days the first time you go live, with no card. Then £99 for 30 days or £600 a year, with no charge per participant.

Example report

How should the city pay for better buses?

326 took part

  • They agree

Bus fares should be capped at £2.

  • They disagree

Cutting quiet routes to pay for busier ones is acceptable.

  • They are unsure

Franchising would give the city better buses than it has now.

  • They are split

A workplace parking levy is a fair way to pay for buses.

Made-up example. A real report is built from your own audience’s answers.

Compared with what you use now

Instead of polling

Representative and expensive, and slow to commission.

Your own readers, today, for a fixed price. Not representative, and the report says so.

Instead of feedback emails

A handful of detailed replies from the people most engaged.

Everyone who follows the link answers the same short statements, so the answers compare.

Instead of your judgement alone

Good, and untested.

Evidence of where your readers agree, disagree, are unsure or are split.

How it works

  1. Write the question

Add the draft as background. The statements are drafted for you to edit.

  2. Send it with the draft

In your newsletter or to a reader panel. No login.

  3. Use the findings

Lead with what readers back, explain what they are unsure about, and export the data as CSV.

What you get back

Every statement is sorted into one of four findings, with one way to use each. The report says how many people took part and what the results do not show.

The situation

The draft paper makes four proposals. You want to know which will land before you publish.

What they found

Readers who answered back the fare cap. The parking levy divides them.

  • They agree

Bus fares should be capped at £2.

    77% agree 12% disagree 11% unsure

One way to use it: Lead the paper with the proposal readers back.

  • They disagree

Cutting quiet routes to pay for busier ones is acceptable.

    14% agree 71% disagree 15% unsure

One way to use it: Treat it as a hard sell in the paper.

  • They are unsure

Franchising would give the city better buses than it has now.

    19% agree 15% disagree 66% unsure

One way to use it: Explain franchising before asking for a view on it.

  • They are split

A workplace parking levy is a fair way to pay for buses.

    42% agree 44% disagree 14% unsure

One way to use it: Run a second, narrower consultation on the levy.

Made-up example, not a customer result. The figures are sorted into findings by the same rules as a real report.

Questions

Is the sample representative?

No. It describes the people who answered, and the report says so plainly. It tells you how your readers react, not the public.

Can I export the data?

Yes. Every vote count is available as CSV, alongside the report as a PDF.

Do you run larger studies?

Yes. Facilitated consultations, designed and run with you, start at £2,500.

How is this different from a poll?

A poll answers the question you thought to ask. Here you ask one question, and participants respond to a dozen or so short statements. You see where the people who took part agree, disagree, are unsure, or are split. Then you get the write-up, not a results screen.

Can I try it before I pay?

Yes. The first time you go live, a verified email gets 14 days with every feature and no card. One trial per email. Another person at the same organisation can start their own. When those days end, an open consultation closes and the report is produced. You can still read and download it afterwards. Paying before then keeps it open.
